This series of prints has developed over the past few years to honour the act of collective remembrance; Devotions are inspired by the inherent wisdom within our bodies connecting us to the earth and the cosmos. In daily meditation practice, visions of colour and symbols appear through conscious awareness. These constellations form a suite of interior landscapes, a personal soul language. The act of making them returns me to ceremony, a kind of prayer to an internal pilgrimage of exiled places.

I honour my connection to the land by choosing to use earth and mineral pigments. This choice connects me directly to the earth and allows an intuitive co-creation with nature. I am conscious of certain healing properties attributed to colours and their relationship to the energy centres of the body, which continue to inform my palette. I print on handmade mulberry paper (kozo washi) made in Echizen, Japan, a place with a sacred and historic relationship to washi production. I combine varying thicknesses of kozo washi in applying layers of translucent colour with the intention to allow the ethereal beauty and inherent quality of the washi to be illuminated.
