Devotion III is a woodblock print with chine collé additions on Japanese handmade washi made in the winter of 2026 with earth and mineral pigments.
Mokuhanga and chine collé hand-printed on 100% Japanese-grown kozo (mulberry) washi, handmade in Echizen, Japan, 55cm x 44cm, 8 passes, 4 blocks, variable edition of 20 with 2 AP’s.
This series of Devotion prints has developed over the past year, inspired by the inherent wisdom within our bodies connecting us to the earth and cosmos. In daily meditations colours and symbols emerge, and these constellations are carved into wood and printed onto paper, forming a library of interior landscapes, honouring a personal soul language. The act of making them returns me to ceremony, on an internal pilgrimage of exiled places rediscovered through conscious awareness.
Using earth and mineral pigments connects me directly to source and allows an intuitive co-creation with nature. I print on handmade mulberry paper (kozo washi) made in Echizen, Japan, a place with a sacred and historic relationship to washi production. I combine varying thicknesses of kozo washi, applying layers of translucent colour with the intention to allow the ethereal beauty and inherent quality of the washi to be illuminated.
