Missing Letters Project

Celebrating the launch of ‘Letters of Triangles’ at Bristol Artists Book Event BABE,  I invited visitors to the book fair to create a simple one or two word contribution to the Missing Letters project. Using the name of a person, place, object or feeling that was 'missed', contributors were invited to use mono printing as a technique to illustrate or depict their letter to the missing.  Inspired by the ‘triangular letters’ Russian soldiers wrote home during WWII these secret longings formed a collection of anonymous nostalgia notes by close of the book fair. Each participant was shown how to print and fold their contribution into a triangle, forever to remain unopened and anonymous. The contributions of 40 visitors were then housed in a bespoke red cloth lined clamshell box and posted to the Arnol Fini gallery to remain in their archives.
