Mokuhanga (Japanese water-based woodblock printing) is perfect for artists interested in a non-toxic, table-top, mediative printmaking technique. Over the course of an intensive weekend, learn the basic skills to transfer a colour separation image onto Japanese ply wood. Carve the key block using a hangi-tou and explore 2-colour separation printing techniques such as goma zuri (sesame printing) and bokashi (gradation printing). With countless possibilities this beautiful, natural printmaking method provides stunning results from an accessible process that will continue to inspire.
This course is currently scheduled for March 12th & 13th 2016 at Hot Bed Press.
Some recent feedback from a participant on this course ...
"It was fabulous. Lucy is such a patient, inspirational teacher and I felt I learnt a whole new skill in a weekend. The course numbers were just right and we all got to know each other over the weekend - a good chance to network. I'm now inspired to continue with this form of printing and to use it in my MA project."
