WAPP Women Artists' Printers Portfolio Collaboration

[ Carriage Return ] were invited to represent the community of women who print letterpress in the British Isles through a portfolio of studio practice exhibited by the Centre for Print Research (CFPR, UWE Bristol). Historically, a gender biased industry and process, letterpress printing today, within conceptual studio practice, sits awkwardly on the periphery of contemporary printmaking and is under-represented at print fairs and exhibitions. Their aim is to firmly position this letterpress printed work within contemporary printmaking and expanded practice and redress the balance of a maledominated fields.

The portfolio of letterpress printed works is exhibited within a curio case exhibition system first previewed at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in November 2025.

The WAPP portfolio will be presented by Dr Angie Butler at the CFPR / St Cuthbert's Mill Paper Symposium UWE Tuesday 27th January 2026.

It will go on to be exhibited at Women in Print, Allan Bank (National Trust) from March - June 2026, invited by Tracy Hill and Heather Mullender-Ross of Artlab Contemporary Print Studios to show the WAPP as part of the Women in Print Exhibition at Allan Bank, Grasmere, Cumbria.

Finally the project will be presented at the Letterpress Symposium and exhibition, Oslo Academy of the Arts Norway, March 17-18 2026.
