The London Art Book Fair 2015

Battenburg Press will be exhibiting at this years' London Art Book Fair this Thursday 10th September - Sunday 13th September at Whitechapel Gallery, as part of the MCollective stand. We will be launching brand new works on paper including 'Nineteen Fuji Views' hot off the press.

A Book on Bookmaking

Last year, before moving to Japan, I was invited to contribute to a new publication by Charlotte Rivers & Esther K.Smith titled 'The little book of bookmaking'. Some of my artist's publications are featured within the pages on 'Folded bindings' along with a description of some techniques I employ in making the editions. The book is published this month and is well worth a read. You can find more details here.

The Tokyo Art Book Fair 2013

Held over 3 days, the TABF was a wonderful event. The M Collective stand presented the work of 9 artists based in Manchester, each exploring the form of the artist's book within their practice. The fair attracted a huge amount of visitors with so many people coming to say hello and find out more about us. We appeared to stand out in our creation of handmade, limited edition works, which drew us plenty of attention and sales. It was a thrill to meet people from Tokyo's artistic and self publishing community. We will be back in 2014 for more.

FLOW Gallery

SW and myself of BATTENBURG PRESS have sold work to Reed Contemporary Books in the last year and these pieces have been selected for the 'To have and to hold - an exhibition of 50 beautiful books' at FLOW Gallery London between September 5th - 7th. Reed Contemporary will also be showing these works at The London Art Book Fair at Whitechapel Gallery between 12th - 15th September. Please consider yourself invited.

BABL went to Brighton for Press & Release

There's no better place to be on a gloriously warm weekend than Brighton. Heading to the sea with the full BABLibrary in tow and a few special friends to help transport her, we listened, prescribed, laughed and basked in the delight of all those we met. The fabulous Press & Release exhibition lived up to the hype and was a joy to behold. Karin, Belinda, Sumi, Ben, Anna, Pip, all the Borbons and even Prof Mizrah - my thanks to all you lovely lovely people. x

'Letters of Triangles' drop in monoprinting at BABE Arnolfini

Celebrating the launch of my new artist’s book ‘Letters of Triangles’ I invited visitors to BABE to create a simple one or two word contribution using the name of a person, place, object or feeling that they missed. Inspired by the ‘triangular letters’ Russian soldiers wrote home during WWII these secret longings formed a collection of anonymous nostalgia notes by close of the book fair. I had 40 contributions and met some very special people.

Thank you to everyone who came along to BABE and who gave the project a dose of their time, contemplation and printing talents, it was much appreciated. x
