Animal Crackers

Sunday in Manhattan began with a un-photogenic proud cockerel approach in a community garden in the Lower East side, then on past the poor prancing ponies in Central Park to where we cooed at Chi puppies frolicking on the lawn costing more than $1, and ended with a cat curled pressed against the window of a deli on Nassau. I miss the company of animals it's fair to say.

The 8 seed bread is sweet and garlic
The smell of the wind is the smell of his hair, the nape of his neck, his earlobes and my missing.

Dancing in Brooklyn is the same as at home.
Brownstone meandering and park loss empties the heart.
The kindness of subway men in the rain puts an ounce back in.

The New York Art Book fair tonight in Queens requires a subway ride in clogs.

Last Supper - NY calling

Corn Chowder yesterday and homemade lasagne today. Two last suppers and a famously grand farewell dinner at 'Needham no more'. Tomorrow I fly to New York after having my last bowl of porridge at the most homely home on earth. I'll miss you more than you'll know. So long, farewell Manchester. New new york. x

Othello / Anatomy Commissions

I've been lucky enough to be involved in some delicious projects this Summer which have kept the wolf from the door and the candle burning at both ends. Borbonesa's new publication Othello - A Bestiary with floral additions is a fine edition of screen printed illustrations concertina bound between hard covers adorned with a red foil blocked strawberry. They asked me to help make the 250 covers needed for the launch, which was a pure pleasure. After working on a bespoke box for the Anatomy Project prints, I created an edition of 5 large books. Such satisfying work.
