Sunographs at School

Oh the sun came out as if I'd nudged, nipped and tugged it from its homely clouds today. It meant we could make camer-less photographs in the school playground as part of a bigger project known as 'New Ghosts'. Ooooooooh.

May Day (Late)

There is little time of late for communication to the world outside my nest. But I am reassured that time will come when I stop, still, take a moment, hear my breath, and reflect. Until that day, I must remember what this time has been full of. Best to recall in pictures, I think.

Lately Lately

It's been an oddly busy few months since returning. The weeks have whooshed by in a flurry of work/flux/imbalance/impermanence. Days of restorative sewing of paper and typesetting are a blurred memory as are the many hours of planning and delivering workshops weekinweekout. Boxes of dearest possessions still lay untouched since September, now shrouded in a thick layer of dust from studio rest. Only now in these days of rest and finally some reflection can I see the way to move towards the next few months. I hope Easter provided a Spring clean of the mind too.

Brooklyn LIGHT

I remember this soft, magical early evening light, but not from last spring here, but from those cold, bright brooding Brooklyn nights. It's light fantastic and each day I still miss it. Getting a fix of there here.

To work with you

Back in the Letterpress saddle. I meditatively typeset 10 pt Baskerville, all 59 lines of it. My eyes ache in impatience for the new piece to show itself. Paper/ink/size choices to be decided. For now I select each letter with utmost love for the process.

Going Underground

A resolution I intend on sticking to is to spend the year being a curious tourist, to look with new eyes at what I see every day, to ask questions and wander without aim, to treat Manchester as I treated New York, with the same awe and wonderment. So as the snow settled on Saturday evening my love led me to the steps of the Midland to embark on a tour of the underground tunnels of the city. We huddled together with a few other hearty souls and embarked on our historic education of Manchester's underground world. Torchlit intrepid footsteps led us to spine-chilling bomb shelters. Darkness + unsettling + snow-cold. romantic.
